SHAL Engineering was established in the UK in 1988 with a clear objective: to build a specialist mechanical engineering company capable of delivering demanding and innovative engineering projects. Since then, we have developed a highly skilled team of mechanical design engineers with extensive experience across multiple industrial sectors.

Our Derbyshire-based workforce was carefully assembled using experienced, “hand-picked” engineers known to the company directors through many years in the UK engineering industry. This ensures a strong foundation of technical expertise, reliability, and practical engineering knowledge.

Unlike many organisations, SHAL Engineering provides a fully in-house engineering service, offering capabilities that are typically only available within larger engineering companies. These include mechanical design, fabrication, machining, assembly, installation, and commissioning.

Our modern Derbyshire facility, purchased in 1994, includes a dedicated design and drawing office, large-capacity machining equipment, fabrication workshops, and assembly areas, all supported by a 15-ton overhead crane. This allows us to deliver complete turnkey engineering solutions under one roof.

Installation and commissioning form a major part of our service offering. We undertake equipment relocation, redesign, modernisation, and full turnkey project delivery, tailored to customer requirements.

We also provide inspection, site survey, and reporting services, including specialist capabilities such as underwater inspections where required.
